Janggaburra Sessions

On the 2nd Saturday of every month, live music is provided by the Janggaburru Sessions, previously known as Yungaburra Sessions. Come and enjoy some soulful tunes.

Join us for Janggaburra Sessions at the Yungaburra Pub verandah. Saturday, 25th August from 7pm.

As part of the Tablelands Folk Festival Janggaburru Sessions there will be a special treat on offer at the Yungaburra Pub - Acappella in the Pub!

BellaCapella, Woyaya! and Misty Mountain Moonshiners, three local community choirs, will entertain you with their vibrant mix of new choral arrangements by contemporary Australian and international composers, interspersed with a few old favourites that might inspire you to join in.

BellaCappella is an A Capella choir of enthusiastic community members from all over the Atherton Tablelands who enjoy the beneficial effects of singing to our well-being.

Their belief in creating beautiful harmonies in the company of others keeps souls uplifted, while the learning of new tunes and lyrics keeps brains active.

Their song repertoire reflects the broad range of musical tastes within the group ... from folk and world music in foreign languages to old and new compositions of various genres, they’ll give everything a go.

Woyaya! is an A Cappella community choir directed by Jane Younghusband.

Their repertoire showcases a wide range of beautiful songs from around the world, including Africa, Macedonia, and Papua Guinea, alongside Gospel and contemporary songs from closer to home.

Woyaya! celebrates the beautiful sounds from many cultures, their differences and their similarities.

People sing for many reasons - in celebration, to lament and grieve, to make a joke or a political statement. They sing to express their love, their devotion, and their anger.

Jane Younghusband believes we can learn a great deal about ourselves and about others from the songs of the world.

We’ve managed to lure the Misty Mountain Moonshiners down from the Misty Mountains to entertain with their barbershop style harmonies.

Their varied repertoire and spot on four-part male harmonies are a great contrast to the usual Acappella choir style.

Jangaburru Sessions is brought to you by the Tablelands Folk Festival. The 2018 Festival dates are October 26-28 and early bird weekend tickets are now on sale online.
